KC Union Station - Limited Edition Signed Print - 16x20

Price:

This hand-signed print is limited to 25 copies.  Whereas my open-editions are all about customization, my limited editions are a carefully curated collectible series with fixed size, medium, and quality meant to reflect the original as closely as possible. These are the only prints I sign and number.

This painting captures a moment in Kansas City Union Station before it gets busy.  It's a quiet morning with just the sound of echoes in this cavernous historical structure.    Light bounces off the patterned marble floors.  The watercolors here mix together to create a connected vision of shadows, light, and reflections.

Limited Edition Description

This is a hand-signed print  limited to 25 copies. See the frequently asked questions about limited edition prints.  The size shown here is the only size offered for the limited edition and all Limited Editions are sold unframed. I use high quality archival fine art papers with archival quality inks, inspecting each piece after printing to ensure it is worthy of the limited edition designation. Accompanying the image is a certificate of authenticity and care instructions.

Whereas my open editions are all about customization, my limited editions are a carefully curated series with fixed size, medium, and quality meant to reflect the original as closely as possible. These are the only prints I will ever hand sign and number. These truly are collectible!

As a special thank you to collectors, all Limited Editions include 3 custom post-cards and a hand written note.

Print Size and Paper

This image is printed on Premium Epson Watercolor Paper and hand signed and numbered in black archival ink on the white border, so the image size is slightly smaller than the paper size, typically 1 inch on each side.  This print is suitable for framing and should be either framed using archival materials or stored using archival methods to maximize longevity.

Note: the additional images are examples of a framing and display and are not included with this image.

The Story behind the Art...just wanting to be somewhere big.

“KC Union Station Hall” is about the feeling of being in this grand, historical space before it gets busy. The scale of the interior space, the echoes, the fact that you can throw a paper airplane and it will travel uninterrupted for 10 seconds before gliding down to the polished marble floor; all this can make you feel like you have it to yourself.

For more than 8 years, this grand structure was in walking distance from my home. Winters downtown in a small 100 year old house made us stir crazy. For that we turned to Union Station. We spent many mornings there with no purpose other than to be somewhere big; meandering, throwing paper airplanes, sipping coffee, watching trains.

Great architecture draws you in and lets you make connections, whether its the scale, the ambition, the rhythm...or just the ability to draw a crowd. Beyond being a makeshift backyard for locals, this place is a gathering spot for Kansas City. Just google Royals World Series celebration! (or Chiefs Superbowl!).

I paint the meaning I see in places. This one makes it easy and I'm sure I'll be painting it for years to come.
